China National Nuclear Corporation is conducting a study in 400 participants in order to investigate the relationship between different levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) and postpartum thyroiditis (PPT) in early pregnancy (1-12 weeks of pregnancy), and to explore whether PPT can be predicted by different TPOAb levels.
University of Alberta is conducting a study in 30 participants in order to determine if fecal microbiota transplant can reverse hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in cirrhotic patients who continue to have breakthrough episodes of HE despite maintenance therapy with lactulose and/or rifaximin or metronidazole.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is conducting a study in 150 participants to examine if MRI perfusion and PET/CT can tell growing tumor and radiation injury apart. MRI perfusion looks at the blood vessels in the tumor. PET/CT looks if the tumor cells are actively growing. The investigators will do these two tests and see which one is better.
The study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and potential efficacy of CGF166 and the associated delivery procedures in patients with severe-to-profound unilateral or bilateral hearing loss. Eligible patients are required to have documented, non-fluctuating hearing loss. Drug CGF166 is a recombinant adenovirus 5 (Ad5) vector containing the human Atonal transcription factor (Hath1) cDNA for administration via intra-labyrinthine infusion.
The purpose of this study is to determine if treatment with PLX3397 and Sirolimus will be tolerated and result in the shrinking of cancer or stopping cancer from growing. In the phase I portion, the maximum tolerated a dose of the study drug will be determined. In the Phase II portion, progression-free survival will be assessed at the dose level found in Phase I. Participants will continue to take the study drug until they experience an unacceptable side effect or their disease progresses.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of intravenous fluids administered with hypotensive anesthesia on your blood volume. With this parameter, one will be able to understand how much of your blood is lost because of bleeding and how much of the drop is related to dilution. They hypothesized that hemodilution associated with intravenous fluid substitution during hypotensive anesthesia results in decreased postoperative hemoglobin (Hb) levels.
This will be an open-label, non-randomized multi-center study designed to assess the safety and efficacy of Adipose-derived Stem Cell (ASC) IV implantation. The therapy is composed of cells isolated from a patient's own adipose tissue. Liposuction will be performed to collect the adipose tissue specimen for subsequent processing to isolate the stem cells. In this study, they propose to investigate the immunosuppressive potential of the non-manipulated non-cultured stromal vascular fraction obtained via liposuction. Endpoints will be measured both by an improvement of the forced evacuation volume in one second (FEV1) and distance covered in a 6-minute walk distance test (6MWD).
The primary aim of this pilot study is to establish the safety and feasibility of patient-controlled administration with dexmedetomidine for anxiolysis (PCA-DEX) during burn care dressings for patients with burn injury. The secondary aim is to determine the acceptability of PCA-DEX for anxiety symptom management by patients with burn injury and nursing staff caring for these patients.

Silicone oil has been used as a surgical tool in complicated retinal detachment surgery. There are some complications occurring in pars plana vitrectomy with silicone oil tamponade. Silicone oil emulsification is one of the complication that may result in severe sequels that are difficult to treat. It is believed that low viscosity silicone oil has more risk to develop emulsification than high viscosity silicone oil. Up to now, however, there is no conclusive guideline that which types of silicone oil is suitable for these complicated retinal detachment surgeries and what is the appropriate time to remove the oil. This prospective study aims to study the silicone oil emulsification comparing between low viscosity and high viscosity silicone oil after complicated retinal detachment surgery.
