Shingles Vaccine Can Reduce Stroke Risk In Older Adults

A new study reported that the shingles vaccine can prevent stroke in older adults. The zoster vaccine live can reduce shingles risk by 51% and stroke risk by about 16%. The vaccine’s protection was strongest among those aged 66-79. Just 2 doses of adjuvant, non-live recombinant shingles vaccine are more than 90% effective at preventing shingles and cut down stroke risk for older adults aged 50 and above.
